- CASE Construction Equipment, a brand of CNH Industrial, has introduced two products: the CX800B and the CX490C to cater to the demolition needs of Russian customers.
Despite the demolition industry in Russia being in its infancy, the outlook is promising thanks to recent ambitious renovation plans for outdated industrial and residential complexes across the country. In modern cities, demolition mostly takes place in high density areas, which necessitate minimum levels of noise, dust and vibration together with strict safety standards, resulting in demands for advanced demolition machines delivering such qualities.
In 2019, the Russian Association of Demolition Industries was founded, and the first demolition forum took place in Moscow, with the participation of key international and local players, including CASE. As a result, CASE, in partnership with its key dealer Stroitelnye Mashiny, has recently introduced two unique demolition excavators to Russian customers: the CX490C and the CX800B.
These CASE excavators, manufactured in Japan, undergo exclusive transformation to satisfy the demolition requirements: a hydraulically extendable undercarriage, a hydraulically removable counterweight, and hydraulic quick-coupler mechanisms for changing the boom are installed. The conversions usually takes six to twelve months. CX490C crawler excavators are equipped with two booms: a 34-meter telescopic boom with shears for efficient demolition of high buildings and a main boom with two possible attachment positions. Thereby, the excavator functions as “4-in-1”: for high building demolition, ground level demolition, as an excavator with a bucket for debris handling and as a machine with a hydraulic hammer.
Both machine and operator safety are key for efficient continuous operations. For environmental safety compliance, the excavator is equipped with technology utilizing water to supress dust when using the hydraulic shears. The tilting cabin protects operator from falling objects.
Another interesting demolition project is being undertaken by the CASE CX800B excavator, specifically designed for the demolition of the old nuclear power station buildings in Voronezh. This project represents a real challenge for the machine, as the structure features concrete walls which are over 900 mm thick.
The CASE CX800B has a special 32 meter boom for working with five ton shears or a hammer. To maximize its working area, the 140 ton giant can be equipped with a 50 meter telescopic arm and shears weighing three tons. When the more powerful 10 ton sheers are required, the 16m boom is employed. All booms can be changed within one hour without additional lifting equipment.
For enhanced stability, the CX800В is fitted with an 8 meter extra-long undercarriage, of which the frame width can extend to 5.5 meters.
In order to comply with environment safety standards, the excavator is enhanced with a hydraulic water pump to ensure dust suppression when working at 50m when conducting applications using shears. For machine safety, additional protection of the work tool cylinder, frame and moving platform are added in order to mitigate the risk of falling fragments in the working zone. Mounted directly on the frame, the professional cab, including the roof, is made of armored glass. It is equipped with additional powerful lighting, ideal when working in low light conditions.
Two additional monitors are installed in the cab of both the CX490C and the CX800B: one displays the safety working zone, and video and audio alarms are activated if violated. The second monitor displays the shears working area, ideal when it is out of the operator’s line of sight.
“This is already our fifth CASE excavator. The CASE CX490C is really versatile, in fact we received four machines-in-one which cope with all jobs perfectly delivering outstanding performance in terms of productivity, safety and reliability,” said Mr. Ayk Kocharyan, General Manager of Konstruktiv SD.
CASE plans to deliver the third demolition excavator, the CX800B, for the projects in south Russia by the end of 2020.
The CASE Russian team and CASE dealers work together to ensure all necessary requirements for demolition projects for 20 – 80 tons excavators are met, thanks to their deep product and demolition industry knowledge, expertise in financial and logistics services and highly efficient aftersales support.
